Smith students are deeply appreciated members of the Saint John’s community, and enthusiastically welcomed to join us for our regular Sunday celebration of the Eucharist. Visiting family, friends and alumnae are always welcome.
Smith Campus Ministry
St. John’s Episcopal Church hosts a monthly gathering to explore what it means to be a Christian and to provide a safe, non-judgmental forum for discussing questions of faith. Please call the parish office for more information or “Like” us on Facebook @ “Smith College at St. John’s” for more information.
Taizé Prayer
The first Wednesday evening of every month, step out of your busy schedule of classes and homework for a quiet hour of contemplation, music, prayer, and candlelight. Drawing on ancient traditions of the church, the simple Taizé service offers a moment of calm for our busy lives.
Puppies in the Parlor
College can be a stressful time for many students. Those who are away from home may face the challenge of loneliness and depression. If you’ve left your dog behind, it can be even harder.
To provide an opportunity for some animal-assisted stress reduction, the rector and a few of the members of St. John’s bring their dogs to the front parlor of the Parish Hall for you to visit with. This is a time to relax, pet, play with, and just enjoy being in the company of dogs.
Check out our Events/Happenings page to see when the next Puppies in the Parlor is scheduled. Rawley and his buddies will be waiting for you when you come!
Pastoral Care
St. John’s rector, Julianne is always available for private conversation and spiritual support by calling the church office at 413-584-1757.
Service
Smith students are encouraged to serve in the liturgical ministries of acolyte and lector. Our choir welcomes student participation as well. Other opportunities for service include volunteering at our weekly Manna meal and assisting our Godly Play teachers. Interested students may speak with the rector.
