As Christians we are called to create churches that are holy, safe, and protecting communities for all of God’s people. Safe Church Policy is designed to address the safety of everyone at St. John’s, with special emphasis on the protection of children, youth, and other vulnerable populations such as the elderly and those who are disabled.
We at St. John’s follow the policies for Safe Church set forth by the Diocese of Western Massachusetts.
These policies set general expectations and guidelines of behavior for ordained and lay people in the Diocese of Western MA when engaged in ministry with children, youth, and vulnerable adults. The purpose of these policies is to create a safe and welcoming space for all children, youth, and vulnerable adults and those engaged in ministry with this population, and to prevent sexual abuse. These policies apply to all activities in the parish.
